The HandlerMapping bean for @RequestMapping annotated @Controller is: org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.annotation.DefaultAnnotationHandlerMapping for Spring MVC prior to 3.1 org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.method.annotation.RequestMappingHandlerMapping for Spring MVC 3.1 This info might be handy if you want to add an interceptor: <beans> <bean id="handlerMapping" ...

In the bean validation API javadoc, for every constraint annotation, there's a corresponding .List annotation. For example, for @NotNull , there's @NotNull.List , for which JavaDoc says: Defines several @NotNull annotations on the same element What would you accomplish with multiple @NotNull annotations that you cannot accomplish with one @NotNull ? This is a test to reveal some of the facts. Change the Person class to: package com.example; public class Person { ... Add another JUnit test ( src/test/com/example/TestPersonWithList.java ): package com.example; import java.util.Itera... As the test shows, a Person bean can never be valid because we are requiring that name must begin with Mr and Ms . One might think that the same can be accomplished by simply repeating the @Pattern annotation multiple times,...

My problem is simple: in my XML data, a timestamp is provided as a long integer (number of milliseconds since the "the epoch"). When I do XSLT, I want to display it as a readable string, such as "Mon Nov 01 18:08:48 CDT 2010". After hours of struggle, I found: It's not so easy to get the job done with JDK 1.6 There are tons of garbage on the web in this space (suggestions, code snippets that simply don't work) Simple Xalan extension functions was the only resource that's somewhat informative. Even there some of the examples don't work. Below is a list of what worked and what didn't. This works: <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="h... This does not (providing long value to Date constructor): <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="h......

This is an HTML image tag filter using Java regex. It takes a string, finds the img tags, replaces the src attribute with one provided by the filter, then adds a class name to the class attribute. import java.util.regex.*; import java.io.*; ... In this example I'll add a parameter to a facelets template. The example contains three tabs, each tab points to a different page. The tab control is shared among all pages, therefore, it is put in the template. Starting from the simple facelet example , make these additions: Create a new template WEB-INF/templates/tabs.xhtml : <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Stric... Add a page for the about tab ( about.xhtml ): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:comp... Add a page for the news tab ( news.xhtml ): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:comp... Add a page for the partner tab ( partner.xhtml ): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:comp... Build and re-deploy the application. Launch the browser and load page http://localhost:8080/facelet-demo/about.jsf . This is a screenshot:

This is a simple example to demonstrate the templating power of JSF facelets. If you've used struts tiles before, you'll recognize the simplicity of templating with facelets. I've stripped out everything else except the pages themselves, just to put our focus on facelets. This is a Maven based project, and you need Tomcat (or any servlet container) to run the resulting webapp. To begin with this is the list of files: ./pom.xml ./src/main/webapp/home.xhtml ./src... I left faces-config.xml in there for completeness sake, it may not be needed. The Maven POM ( pom.xml ): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <project... Web app configuration ( WEB-INF/web.xml ): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <web-app... Empty WEB-INF/faces-config.xml : <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!-- Thi... index.jsp is simply a redirect to home.jsf : <% response.sendRedirect("home.jsf"); %>...
