Here are some ways to run a main method using Maven:
Use the exec plugin:
mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass="com.example.App"
or, with arguments:
mvn exec:java -Dexec.mainClass="com.example.App" -...
Attach it to a build phase with the build element:
<build>
<plugins>
<plugin>

If you want to run main from Maven, it's probably just some test code. You are better off just to write a test case, or call the main method from a test class:

The certificate was actually signed by Verisign, but somehow failed to pass Java cert validation.
To resolve the problem:
Download the cert from the server (with RetrieveSSLCert , for example)
Import the certificate into the keystore:
$ keytool -import -trustcacerts -alias myserver -f...
Define MAVEN_OPTS :
$ export MAVEN_OPTS='-Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=/h...
The quotes must exist for the value of MAVEN_OPTS , and the path must be absolute ( ~/etc/mavenKeyStore.jks does not work).

Because Maven dependencies are transitive, the same artifact may be brought in with different version numbers by multiple other dependencies. For example, the current project may depend on artifact A, which in turn depends on artifact C version 1.
