History.js gracefully supports the HTML5 History/State APIs (pushState, replaceState, onPopState) in all browsers. For HTML4 browsers it will revert back to using the old onhashchange functionality. All major browsers are supported. This is a simple test page to get started: <html> <head> <title>Test History</title> ... Note: state url must be provided for IE to generate a unique hash. YOu can prefix the state url with '?' ('#' does not work).

You can submit a form via Ajax by the jQuery Form Plugin . There are two main methods: ajaxForm : prepares a form for Ajax submit. Example: $('#myFormId').ajaxForm({ target: ... When the form is submitted, it is sent via Ajax. ajaxSubmit : submit a form via Ajax. Example: $('#myForm2').submit(function() { // i... jQuery Form Plugin is not in the core jQuery API, so you have to include an additional JS file: <head> <script type="text/javascript" ...

There is no XSLT 2.0 support in the JDK as of 7.0. According to Stackoverflow , there are three Java packages that support XSLT 2.0: Saxon IBM WebSphere XML Feature Pack Oracle XDK There are no known support for XSLT in browsers. According to Wikipedia : XSLT is developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The most recent version is XSLT 2.0, which reached W3C recommendation status on 23 January 2007. As of 2010, however, XSLT 1.0 is still widely used, as there are no products that support XSLT 2.0 running in the browser, nor on some important server environments such as LAMP. Expressions like this: format-date(xs:date('1999-12-31'), '[D01] [MNn] ... where format-date is a XSLT 2.0 function and date is a XPath 2.0 constructor...

<?php $useragent = $_SERVER ['HTTP_USER_AGE... PHP also provides get_browser function, which returns an object or array. But that requires browscap configuration which locates the browscap.ini file.

If you think the JavaScript code below is simple, think again. Try it in different browsers and see if you can explain what you see. What is displayed in the browser window with this HTML page? <!doctype html> <html> <body> <p>befor... What is displayed inside the iframe? Try different browsers. <!doctype html> <html> <head> <style t...

There's a limit to the number of characters a bookmarklet can contain. Browser Max chars Netscape > 2000 Firefox > 2000 Opera > 2000 IE 4 2084 IE 5 2084 IE 6 508 IE 6 SP 2 488 IE 7 ~2084 IE 8 ~2200-2300 I tried it in the IE6 browser. The following code (573 characters) doesn't work as a bookmarklet. However, <a href="alert('Hi');">Short Bookmarklet</a> works. Actually, you don't have to save the link as a bookmark in order to test, just click the link, nothing happens if the length limit is exceeded. <a href='javascript:alert("var c = document.create... If the bookmarklet code is too long, you can save the JavaScript code on a server and use this function to bring it back to the page:...

I didn't know how hard it was to vertically align something to the middle until I had to do it. An excellent writeup about the various techniques (or should I say hacks?) to achieve this is here: http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/vertical-centering-with-css/ Here I present a technique with the help of jQuery. To make it simple, what I'm doing is to display a single line of text in the middle of the page instead of at the top. The markup is made simple because the logic is moved to JavaScript. There are two requirements to make this work: The parent container uses relative positioning jQuery code added to re-position the content with absolute positioning <!doctype html> <html> <head> <title>Vert... For some reason, the following code did not work although...

If you ever wonder how those "cool" dialog boxes are made, copy and paste the following code to a file and test it with your browser. This is probably the simplest code for such effects. If you don't know what I mean, try it anyway. <html> <head> <title>Test Overlay</ti...

I had this seemingly innocent code that did not work: <html> <body> <script language="JavaScript"... I fired up the Chrome JavaScript console and it told me that: Uncaught TypeError: object is not a function . When the name sameAsInputName appeared in the inline event handler, the browser thinks that it refers to the input field(s), not the JavaScript function! It works as expected if you attach the event handler later: <html> <body> <script language="JavaScript"...

The "View Source" function in browsers displays the HTML source as it is received from the server. It does not show the HTML source after the DOM structure has been altered by JavaScript. Sometimes you want to see the HTML source as it is currently rendered in the browser. For Firefox: Without using any extension: select an area of the page, right click and select "View Selection Source" Using Firebug : click the HTML tab double click the body tag to edit copy all text in the edit panel and paste to your favorite editor. Using View Source Chart : right click and select "View Source Chart" For IE: Use View Rendered Source by Bill Friedrich: right click and select "View Rendered Source" For all...
