Our custom tag, as implemented in the previous note , is broken when a template is used.
Create a template file ( home-template.xhtml ):
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Stric...
and a test page that uses it ( home.xhtml ):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ui:comp...
Then request the page with URL: http://localhost:8080/facelet-demo/home.jsf?name=Jack .
You'll find that our hello tag works inside ui:repeat but fails to get the value defined by ui:param ! What's the problem? Our hello tag implementation evaluated the EL with the wrong EL context!
This is the corrected implementation:
package com.example;
import java.io.IOExcep...

This note lists some of the different behaviors I found using different JSF implementations. In the simple JSF facelet example, I used Sun's reference implementation version 2.0.0-RC:
<dependency> <groupId>javax.faces</gro... With this version, the DOCTYPE declaration is dropped when the page is rendered. It doesn't matter what DOCTYPE you declare in your templates, the facelet engine simply drops it. The problem with this is, your page is always displayed in quirks mode , despite your intentions to require standards compliant mode. The DOCTYPE problem is fixed in release 2.0.2-FCS . Change the dependency in pom.xml to: <dependency> <groupId>javax.faces</gro... and test again, you'll find that DOCTYPE is faithfully passed over to the browser (view source at browser). You can delete the DOCTYPE declaration in the xhtml template...

From Alfresco wiki :
Script Files
Script files can be stored either on the ClassPath (for example, in alfresco/extension/myscripts ) or in a repository store. Scripts are generally stored in the default repository in the Company Home/Data Dictionary/Scripts location. Scripts in this location can be accessed directly by users via the Execute a script action . Scripts in any repository location can be accessed by any user via REST URL if they have the appropriate read permissions on the script document. Scripts on the ClassPath can be imported into other scripts but not executed directly in the web client.

While doing some Java reflection code, I noticed the method Class.isSynthetic() , which the JavaDoc says returns " true if and only if this class is a synthetic class as defined by the Java Language Specification". However, there's no definition of "synthetic class" in the JLS ! The only thing that I can find that remotely resembles a definition is in the JVM spec , where it defines the synthetic attribute : "The Synthetic attribute is a fixed-length attribute in the attributes table of ClassFile (§4.1), field_info (§4.5), and method_info (§4.6) structures. A class member that does not appear in the source code must be marked using a Synthetic attribute." By this definition, a default constructor, which does not appear in the source code, should...

In Java regex, by default, the dot character does not match the newline character ( \n ). It matches a newline character only when the DOTALL flag is set.
Example:

The bash environment variable PROMPT_COMMAND contains a regular bash command that is executed just before the command prompt is displayed.
For example:
$ export PROMPT_COMMAND=a
bash: a: command not ...
The command a is not valid so you get the error message every time you hit enter.
Echo something before $PS1 :
$ export PROMPT_COMMAND='echo -n Hi!'
Hi!$
...
PROMPT_COMMAND is regularly used to change the xterm window title. You may find this in /etc/bashrc :
case $TERM in
xterm*)
if [ -...

grep is a versatile command with many variations (grep, egrep, fgrep, then various implementations). It uses a regula expression (regex) pattern to filter input. But then there are basic and extended flavors of regex - leading to even more confusion. And, beware that there are lots of bad examples of regex in the wild... There are two critical questions to ask when you use grep: which grep implementation are you using? what is the flavor of the regex? Here are some examples for gnu grep v2.7:
# Find all numbers (no decimal point), basic regex... Use the -o flag to show only the matching part instead of the whole matching line: grep -o -E '\b[0-9]{2}\b' The good thing about the gnu grep is that it...
