Step 1: Repackage a web app as EAR A Java EE application is a multimodule Maven project. At the very least you'll need to package a WAR and an EAR. To get started, I'll simply re-package the simple webapp as an EAR. Create a directory named javaee-app Copy the webapp from here to javaee-app . Rename struts1app to webapp . Create pom.xml under javaee-app : <project> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>... Create a directory named ear under javaee-app . Create pom.xml under ear : <project> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion>... Modify pom.xml in the webapp directory so that it looks like this: <project> <modelVersion>4.0.0</modelVersion> ... Build with " mvn package " in the javaee-app directory. You can see that ear-1.0.ear is successfully generated in javaee-app/ear/target . Maven successfully resolves dependencies between the sub-projects....

Facelet templates can be nested, for example, a page can use a template which inherits from another template. To demonstrate this, let's start from the simple example and make these additions: Add a place holder for CSS style sheets in WEB-INF/templates/default.xhtml : <h:head> <title>Facelets Template Demo</tit... Add a derivative template ( WEB-INF/templates/default-style.xhtml ) which provides CSS: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:comp... Add a page that uses the styled template ( home-style.xhtml ): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <ui:comp... The only difference between this file and home.xhtml is the template being used. Compare the display of the pages home.xhtml and home-style.xhtml .

I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 desktop on my old Dell laptop, but the cdrom is not auto-mounting. Normally this simply works. I tried various things like adding cdrom to /etc/fstab and installing halevt (which failed), none worked. However, I found out that despite talks of using gnome-volume-manager etc, at least for this version of Ubuntu automount is managed by Nautilus (file manager): start gconf-editor and navigate to /apps/nautilus/preferences/ , media_automount should be checked (but it's checked by default, unless you changed it). In the end, I wasn't able to make cdrom automount, although USB drives automounted fine. Instead of wasting more time to diagnose the problem, I manually mounted the cdrom drive: $ sudo mount /dev/cdrom /cdrom

The following procedure will clear out the NVRAM and set dd-wrt back to default values: With the unit powered on, press and hold the reset button on back of unit for 30 seconds Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for another 30 seconds Plug the unit back in still holding the reset button a final 30 seconds This procedure should be done before and after every firmware upgrade/downgrade. The firmware writes information to the Nvram . A hard reset clears that information. If you don't clear it properly, parts of the old information be present with the new firmware, which can make it not operate properly.

Fedora/Redhat List current status (for httpd): # chkconfig --list httpd Warning: this works only when one of /etc/rc runlevel .d/ K NN name or /etc/rc runlevel .d/ S NN name exists. It exports wrong status when both K and S scripts exist (in which case the status should be enabled). Enable sshd for run levels 2, 3, 5: # chkconfig --level 2,3,5 sshd on Disable sshd for run levels 2, 3, 5: # chkconfig --level 2,3,5 sshd off By default, the on and off options affect only runlevels 2, 3, 4, and 5. Debian/Ubuntu Add apache2 with defaults : # update-rc.d apache2 defaults If defaults is used then update-rc.d will make links to start the service in runlevels 2, 3, 4, 5 and to stop...

While doing some Java reflection code, I noticed the method Class.isSynthetic() , which the JavaDoc says returns " true if and only if this class is a synthetic class as defined by the Java Language Specification". However, there's no definition of "synthetic class" in the JLS ! The only thing that I can find that remotely resembles a definition is in the JVM spec , where it defines the synthetic attribute : "The Synthetic attribute is a fixed-length attribute in the attributes table of ClassFile (§4.1), field_info (§4.5), and method_info (§4.6) structures. A class member that does not appear in the source code must be marked using a Synthetic attribute." By this definition, a default constructor, which does not appear in the source code, should...

By default SELinux blocks execstack permission. According to Ulrich Drepper : "As the name suggests, this error is raised if a program tries to make its stack (or parts thereof) executable with an mprotect call. This should never, ever be necessary. Stack memory is not executable on most OSes these days and this won't change. Executable stack memory is one of the biggest security problems. An execstack error might in fact be most likely raised by malicious code." You can check if a library/application requires execstack by using the execstack utility: execstack -q PATHTOPROGRAM You can try to clean the flag and see if the application still runs: execstack -c PATHTOPROGRAM To allow execstack for cc1 : # grep cc1 /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow ...
