This utility class retrieves SSL certificates from the server and print them out to the stdout. The output can be saved to a file and imported to a Java keystore. This is useful in your test environment where the SSL certificate is self-signed.

You get this error when you are trying to compile with JDK 1.5 (class version 49), but your dependency was compiled by JDK 1.6 (class version 50). Check the JAVA_HOME setting, and make sure it's pointing to JDK 1.6. On Unix, use

Some peculiarities about Java PrintWriter: PrintWriter never throws any exceptions. From JavaDoc : Methods in this class never throw I/O exceptions, although some of its constructors may. The client may inquire as to whether any errors have occurred by invoking checkError(). When error occurs, you'll never know anything more than that it occured, because checkError returns boolean. When a character is out of the range of the character encoding of the PrintWriter, it prints a question mark (?). But this is not an error. Test code:

java TestPrintWriter iso-8859-1 | od -bc 000000...UTF-8 test result:
java TestPrintWriter utf-8 | od -bc 0000000 141...Also, the constructor throws a FileNotFoundException when you try to write to a...

Removing the log4j jar from my web application archive fixed the problem (sine log4j is already available in JBoss). Why was the logger changed to STDOUT? JBoss detects that there's a problem with the log4j configuration and routes all...

Sometimes ClassCastException happens when apprently a class is casted to the same class or a parent class. The exception looks like this:
java.lang.ClassCastException: X cannot be cast to ...where Y may be the same as X , or a parent class of X . The cause of this error is that X and Y are loaded by different class loaders. You can use the FindClass utility to find all occurances of X and Y in the deployment tree. If there's no duplication of X and Y in the deployment tree, JNDI lookups may be the culprit. Suppose X is loaded by class loader LX and registered under name jndi/Resource . In the context of another loader LY , your code may be looking up...

PostgreSQL provides two distinct ways to store binary data: Binary data can be stored in a table using the data type bytea . By using the Large Object feature which stores the binary data in a separate table in a special format and refers to that table by storing a value of type oid in your table. Different methods are used to access the BLOBs depending on which storage type you choose: To use the bytea data type you should use the getBytes() , setBytes() , getBinaryStream() , or setBinaryStream() methods. To use the Large Object functionality you can use either the LargeObject class provided by the PostgreSQL JDBC driver, or by using the getBLOB() and setBLOB() methods. Using setBinaryStream on an OID column yields...

This error happens when the ordering of elements in web.xml is not correct. For example, in a <servlet> declaration, <servlet-name> should come before <servlet-class> . If you switch the order of <servlet-name> and <servlet-class> , you'll get this error. This was my stack trace in JBoss when I declared <load-on-startup> before <init-param> for a servlet:
